Children’s Social Worker – Corporate Parenting (Looked After Children Team)
Location: Wrexham - 4 days in the offcie - 1 day WFH
Salary: £38.43 Per day UMBRELLA (£28.70 PAYE)
Contract: Initially 12 weeks - potential to extend - full time, 37 hours per week
Working on behalf of Wrexham Country Borough Council, We are seeking a passionate Children’s Social Worker to join their Corporate Parenting – Looked After Children Team, supporting children in care to achieve stability, safety, and positive long-term outcomes.
About the Role
As a Social Worker in the Corporate Parenting team, you will hold a caseload of looked after children and young people, delivering high-quality care planning, statutory visiting, and permanence planning. You will build strong, meaningful relationships with children, carers, and partner agencies to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
You will play a key role in care planning, placement stability, and pathway planning, ensuring each child’s voice is central to all decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of looked after children and young people.
- Complete statutory visits, reviews, and care planning in line with legislation and timescales.
- Develop and progress permanence plans, including reunification, long-term care, or adoption where appropriate.
- Work closely with foster carers, residential providers, schools, and health professionals.
- Prepare high-quality reports for reviews and court where required.
- Ensure children’s views, wishes, and feelings are central to all planning.
- Monitor placements to promote stability and positive outcomes.
- Support young people with pathway and transition planning.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case recordings and documentation.
- Qualified Social Worker with current professional registration.
- Experience in children’s social care, ideally with looked after children or corporate parenting services.
- Strong safeguarding, assessment, and care planning skills.
- Confident in multi-agency working and professional decision-making.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Committed to achieving the best outcomes for children in care.
