Assessment Social Worker – Kinship Foster Carers (Stockport)
Key Details
We are working on behalf of Stockport Council to recruit a dedicated GO Assessment Social Worker to undertake Discharge of CO SGO Assessments for Kinship Foster Carers. This is an exciting opportunity to focus on assessment work and the completion of SGO Support Plans, ensuring high-quality practice and timely outcomes for children and families.
The Kinship Foster Carers will continue to be supported and supervised by their allocated SSW, allowing the appointed Assessment Social Worker to concentrate on assessments and support plan completion.

Key Details
- Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
- Location: Stopford House, Stockport (Hybrid working available)
- Salary: £35 UMB per hour (£26.27 PAYE)
- Contract details: Initially 3 months - potential to extend

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Discharge of CO SGO Assessments for Kinship Foster Carers
- Complete SGO Support Plans accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure assessments and support plans meet statutory requirements and best practice standards
- Work collaboratively with allocated SSWs and other stakeholders
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation
- Qualified and registered Social Worker
- Experience in assessment work, ideally with kinship foster carers or family placements
- Strong report writing and case recording skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
- Commitment to high-quality, child-centred practice
