Working on behalf of the Lond borough of Sutton, We are currently recruiting for an experienced Children’s Team Manager – Localities to join a dynamic Children’s Social Care service on an initial 4-month contract.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader to oversee frontline statutory services, ensuring high-quality practice and positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
About the Role
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will provide operational leadership and management to a locality-based children’s team. You will oversee complex casework, support and challenge practitioners, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met in line with current legislation, policy and safeguarding standards.

About the Role
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will provide operational leadership and management to a locality-based children’s team. You will oversee complex casework, support and challenge practitioners, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met in line with current legislation, policy and safeguarding standards.
You will play a key role in:
- Leading and managing a team of Social Workers and practitioners
- Providing reflective supervision and case oversight
- Ensuring robust assessments, plans and reviews are completed to a high standard
- Supporting staff to make sound, child-centred decisions
- Embedding best practice and driving service improvement
- Managing performance, quality assurance and risk within the team
- Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners
- Deputising for the Service Manager where required
- Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered)
- Significant post-qualified experience within Children’s Social Care - 3 years in Local Authority
- Experience managing or supervising Social Workers within a statutory setting
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, CIN and LAC processes
- Proven ability to oversee complex casework and manage risk effectively
- Experience of performance management and quality assurance
- Confident in leading teams through change and promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- £45.20 per hour (Umbrella)
- 36-hour working week
- Initial 4-month contract
