Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home Location: Walsall
Job Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Sector: Children’s Residential Care

? This is more than a Registered Manager role. This is an opportunity to build something exceptional. What if you could join a children’s residential home before it opens its doors and have a genuine say in the culture, team, values and standards from day one?

Alexandra’s Home is a brand-new children’s residential service with an ambitious vision: to create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children can heal, grow and thrive.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager who shares that vision and has the leadership, regulatory knowledge and passion to help turn it into reality.

This is not about taking over an established service and maintaining the status quo.

You will help build the home from the ground up — from registration and recruitment through to opening, developing the team and ultimately achieving an Outstanding Ofsted outcome.

You will work closely with a committed Director and have the support, resources and professional backing to create a home that you can genuinely be proud of.

? About Alexandra’s Home We believe children deserve more than simply a safe place to live.

They deserve a home where they feel safe, valued, listened to and that they belong.

Our aim is to provide exceptional, therapeutic and child-centred care that helps children recover from difficult experiences, build positive relationships and develop the confidence and resilience to reach their potential.

That means creating opportunities for children to experience the things that make childhood memorable — holidays, hobbies, sports, celebrations, achievements, laughter and positive experiences.

As a new provider, we have the unique opportunity to establish our culture from day one.

We want children to feel understood.

We want staff to feel supported.

And we want everyone within the organisation to share the same ambition: to achieve outstanding outcomes for children.

? The Opportunity As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership and operational management of the home.

You will lead the service through its registration and opening, establish robust systems and processes, recruit and develop your team, and ensure the home consistently delivers exceptional standards of care.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the registration and opening of a brand-new children’s home
  • Shape the home's culture, values and therapeutic approach
  • Recruit and build a high-performing team
  • Develop strong relationships with children, families and professionals
  • Establish excellent safeguarding and care planning systems
  • Work closely with the Director and wider leadership team
  • Prepare the home for Ofsted inspection
  • Develop the service towards a Good and ultimately Outstanding Ofsted judgement
  • Progress your own career as Alexandra’s Home grows
This is a role for someone who doesn't simply want to manage a home.

It is for someone who wants to build one.

? About You We are looking for an experienced Children's Residential Manager who understands what outstanding practice looks like and has the confidence to lead from the front.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or an equivalent Ofsted-recognised qualification
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience managing an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home
  • A proven track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding legislation
  • Experience recruiting, leading, motivating and developing residential childcare teams
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge
  • Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with families, social workers and partner agencies
  • The ability to maintain accurate records, reports and statutory documentation
