A client within the Private Sector based in Gateshead is currently recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join their Engineering and Development Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a civil engineering, design, or infrastructure environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to lead and manage civil engineering projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction, ensuring all designs comply with statutory requirements and are delivered to a high technical standard.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports.
• Designing roads, sewers, plot drainage, site levels, and identifying earthworks and retaining structures.
• Producing high-quality technical drawings and reports for planning and design submissions.
• Liaising with statutory bodies including highways authorities, water authorities, and LLFAs to secure design approvals such as S38 and S104.
• Managing civil engineering projects from inception to handover, including attending meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers within the team.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering.
• 6–10 years of civil engineering experience.
• Experience designing for residential development or similar infrastructure projects.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Proficiency in MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and Civils 3D.
• Strong knowledge of Manual for Streets, DMRB, and UK planning processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering up to £55,000 per annum + comprehensive benefits.
