Civil Litigation Lawyer

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a South London Local Authority for an experienced Civil Litigation Lawyer to join their in-house legal team. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied civil litigation caseload while benefiting from flexible hybrid working.
 
ROLE:                  Civil Litigation Lawyer
LOCATION:         South London Local Authority
RATE:                   £50-55ph umbrella / £48.91ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.64ph PAYE exc. holiday pay        
CONTRACT:        3 months with possibility of extension, 35 hours per week (1 day per week in office)
 
The Role - You will manage a broad range of contentious matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation across the Council's litigation portfolio.
 
Key Responsibilities
 

• Conduct a varied caseload of general civil litigation, including residential and commercial landlord & tenant disputes.
• Manage contractual, tortious and judicial review matters from pre-action through to enforcement.
• Represent the Council in tribunals and courts, handling contested and technically complex cases.
• Advise officers on legal risk, strategy and dispute resolution.

 
About You
 

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX Fellow) with practising rights.
• Significant experience handling a broad civil litigation caseload, ideally within local government.
• Confident managing contested matters and advising on complex legal issues.
