Civilian Investigator
Location: Sleaford Police Station, Sleaford, NG34 7LZ
Contract: 6 month contract with likely extension
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Pay Rate: £17.97 PAYE per hour
About the Role:
To support the Major Crime Unit in the investigation of serious and complex crimes, including homicide investigations. The role involves gathering evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, analysing intelligence, and preparing prosecution files in accordance with legislation and force procedures.
The post holder will ensure investigations comply with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 and the Victims Code of Practice, supporting the delivery of high-quality investigative outcomes.
All duties must align with the values and professional standards upheld by Lincolnshire Police.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the investigation of major crime in line with MCU operational policies and procedures.
- Respond to serious crime reports including coronial investigations and support to specialist policing units.
- Develop and implement proportionate investigation strategies.
- Conduct interviews with victims and witnesses in accordance with investigative procedures.
- Identify vulnerable or significant witnesses and ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are applied.
- Secure, preserve, and gather evidence from a variety of sources
Essential skills and experience:
- PIP1 accreditation (mandatory)
- Proven experience as an investigator within a policing or equivalent environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Resilience and emotional maturity when dealing with traumatic material
- Trauma-informed approach to victims and witnesses
- Strong team-working capability
- Full UK driving licence
