A client within the Public Sector based in Hampshire is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works to join their Housing Operations / Resident Services Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or similar public-sector environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To check and monitor construction work carried out on behalf of the council, ensuring quality control and that completed works comply with specified standards, relevant legislation, professional standards, and the council’s policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Undertaking site monitoring duties for major refurbishment and new build projects.
• Monitoring contractor performance and carrying out inspections as required.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and producing site reports.
• Contributing to project control and contract management systems.
• Carrying out site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with contract specifications, drawings, legislation, standards, and council procedures.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require:
• HND in Construction, Surveying or a similar relevant qualification; OR substantial construction knowledge gained through a trade or construction background with responsibility for site inspection.
• Professional membership or recognition (e.g. Institute of Clerk of Works or equivalent).
• Experience monitoring and inspecting construction works to appropriate quality standards.
• A clear understanding of construction legislation and British Standards.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Chartered membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB).
• Previous experience working within a local authority or public sector construction environment.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £26 per day Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35), equivalent to approximately £20 per hour PAYE.
