The Role
Swindon Borough Council is seeking two Community Safety Officers to join its frontline patrolling team on a temporary basis while permanent recruitment is underway.
This is a visible, public facing role focused on improving safety, reducing antisocial behaviour, and supporting local communities. You will carry out regular patrols, engage with residents and businesses, and work closely with partner agencies to address community safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities
The role requires flexibility and includes evening and weekend work to cover community safety hotspots and the night time economy. The standard working week is 40 hours with two rest days.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols across neighbourhoods, parks, town centres, and priority locations
- Provide a visible and reassuring presence to deter antisocial behaviour and nuisance activity
- Engage positively with residents, businesses, and community groups
- Enforce local authority powers including PSPOs, littering, and dog control regulations
- Issue fixed penalty notices where appropriate and in line with policy
- Respond to reports of antisocial behaviour and environmental concerns
- Record incidents accurately and produce clear written reports
- Work alongside police, housing, and other partner agencies
- Escalate safeguarding concerns in line with procedures

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS
- Experience in community safety, enforcement, security, or other public facing roles
- Confident communicator able to handle challenging situations calmly
- Physically able to undertake regular patrols
- Basic IT skills for reporting and record keeping
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
