Contracts Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with a local authority based in Essex who are hiring a Contracts Lawyer to provide expert legal support on a range of procurement and contractual matters. Please find below further details about this position.

Role: Contracts Lawyer 
Location: Essex
Salary: £46,142 – £52,413 (Permanent, Part-Time, 2 days/week in-office)

Key responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and construction contracts (JCT, NEC).
• Advise on procurement strategies, legal risks, and governance compliance.
• Support decision-making processes in line with Contract Procedure Rules.
• Work independently on a varied caseload, with guidance from senior lawyers.

Requirements:

• Qualified solicitor or equivalent with relevant contract law experience.
• Experience within local authority or public sector preferred.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple cases efficiently.
• Strong understanding of procurement legislation and legal principles.
