Contracts Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with a well-regarded local authority in Essex is seeking an experienced Contracts Lawyer to join their legal team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a key role supporting commercial and procurement activity, with the opportunity to make an immediate impact.

RATE:                   £55–£65ph umbrella / £57.12ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £51.02ph PAYE exc. Holiday pay
CONTRACT:        Initial 3 months with possibility of extension
 
Please not that there will be office attendance once per fortnight.


The Role
 

• Manage a varied caseload of commercial, procurement and construction contracts, including JCT and NEC, with minimal supervision
• Draft, negotiate and review contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and Contract Procedure Rules
• Work closely with procurement colleagues, providing advice on procurement strategy, risk and governance
• Support the Council’s commercial initiatives while safeguarding legal and financial interests, with backing from Senior and Principal Lawyers

 
Person Specification
 

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with proven contracts experience, ideally within a local authority or public sector setting
• Able to work independently, handling matters end-to-end while delivering clear, pragmatic legal advice
• Strong organisational, research and communication skills, with the ability to support procurement and administrative work as required
