Contracts & Procurement Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with local authority based in Sussex who are looking for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Solicitor to join its Legal Services team on an interim basis while a permanent appointment is recruited.
You’ll act as a key legal adviser to officers across the Council, supporting a wide range of contracts and procurement projects and ensuring compliance with procurement law and council governance.

ROLE:                  Contracts & Procurement Lawyer
LOCATION:         Sussex / hybrid (1 day per week in the office)
CONTRACT:        Ongoing pending permanent recruitment
RATE:                   £55.00ph umbrella / £48.46ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.24ph PAYE exc. holiday pay

The Role
 

• Draft and negotiate commercial and public sector contracts including SLAs, funding agreements, inter-authority agreements, and JCT/NEC construction contracts
• Provide legal advice throughout the procurement process
• Assess and manage legal risk and support compliant procurement strategies
• Work closely with legal, procurement and governance teams across the authority

The Person 

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive
• Previous local authority experience for this role would be essential
• Strong experience in contracts and procurement law
• Confident advising officers and managing your own caseload
