A client within the Public Sector, based in Devon, is currently recruiting for a Corporate Occupational Health & Safety Manager to join their HR, Workforce & Organisational Development team as soon as possible.
The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or public sector environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To act as the Council’s designated competent person for occupational health and safety, providing strategic leadership, expert advice, and operational support to ensure statutory compliance and promote a positive health and safety culture across all services.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Acting as the lead advisor on corporate health and safety legislation and best practice
• Developing, implementing, and monitoring corporate health and safety policies, plans, and performance measures
• Leading investigations into serious incidents, dangerous occurrences, and work-related ill health
• Managing and reviewing risk assessments, audits, accident reporting, and compliance systems
• Delivering and overseeing health and safety training, including toolbox talks, fire warden and first aider provision
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
• Occupational Health & Safety qualification equivalent to EQF Level 6 (e.g. NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma, Degree, NVQ Level 6)
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice
• Significant experience in a senior occupational health and safety advisory role
The below skills and experience would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience working within a local authority or wider public sector environment
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills at senior level
• Experience delivering training and supporting leadership teams
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35), which equates to approximately £25 per hour PAYE.
