We are delighted to be recruiting for a Credit Controller to join a dynamic finance team on a permanent basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective credit control processes, maintaining strong customer relationships, and supporting the business in achieving its financial objectives.
What you will be doing:
- Manage outstanding sales balances by leveraging internal and external relationships to ensure timely payments.
- Negotiate repayment plans where necessary and authorise orders in line with credit policies.
- Review and assess new customer applications for creditworthiness, setting appropriate credit limits and terms.
- Reconcile customer accounts and accurately allocate payments to invoices.
- Monitor and review credit limits based on turnover and forward orders, following credit reference and insurer guidelines.
- Follow collection procedures for overdue accounts, including telephone collection techniques and escalation to legal action when required.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and credit control best practices.
- Focus on dispute management from identification through to resolution with a “first-time-right” approach.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the credit control function.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in credit control, ideally managing high-volume transactions.
- Experience with self-billing and managing own ledger.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Numerate with the ability to interpret and communicate complex accounts and financial reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced knowledge preferred).
- ICM student or member (desirable).
- Basic financial analysis skills and general commercial understanding (preferred).
