Custody Healthcare Practitioner

Service Care Solutions are looking for an experienced, qualified RGN/RMN to work as a Custody Healthcare Practitioner on a full-time, long-term contract across London.
This role involves working directly with a London-based Police Force, and involves delivering a triage service to patients currently in police custody.

The rates of pay for this position are:

PAYE rate:
Day: £29.73 per hour
Night/Saturday: £41.17 per hour
Sunday/BH: £54.35 per hour

Umbrella rate:
Day: £38.10 per hour
Night/Saturday: £52.90 per hour
Sunday/BH: £70.08 per hour

Applicants must have access to their own vehicle to be able to operate from different sites.
Applicants must have a minimum of 1 years experience working in a custodial environment.
Applicants must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years, in order to pass through the Police security background checks (vetting)

Role responsibilities:
The development programme will prepare you to take responsibility for:
- Ensuring the continuing health, safety and welfare of detainees within police custody
- Assessing and formulating tailored care plans for vulnerable people with multiple medical conditions, some of which may limit their ability to be detained and interviewed
- Providing clinical guidance for custody staff responsible for the observation of detainees
- Ensuring accurate clinical and police records
- Responding to clinical emergencies
- Collecting forensic samples to assist police in their investigations
- Commitment to improving clinical practice through education, research and innovation

Working pattern:
Working pattern is two days, two nights, four days off duty continuous rota.

Essential criteria:
- First level registered adult nurse, mental health nurse or paramedic holding current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council / Health and Care Professions Council
- Registered for a minimum of three years
- Competency level equivalent to NHS Band 6 within the health service
- MUST be competent in venepuncture on your first day of appointment
