Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a Housing Services team on a temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with experience in HHSRS, damp and mould, disrepair and housing repairs to play a key role in improving the quality and safety of residents' homes.
The successful candidate will provide technical surveying expertise across a range of housing maintenance and compliance activities, including property inspections, diagnosing defects, managing remedial works and overseeing contractors.

About the Role You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Housing Services team, supporting the delivery of an effective repairs and maintenance service across the housing stock.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking property inspections, diagnostic surveys and technical assessments.
- Identifying and managing HHSRS hazards, damp, mould and condensation issues.
- Providing technical advice and preparing detailed technical reports.
- Managing responsive repairs, void property works, major repairs and minor planned works.
- Supporting the delivery of housing disrepair remedial works, including joint inspections and the preparation of Scott Schedules where required.
- Supporting the organisation's response to Awaab's Law and wider housing quality requirements.
- Specifying, managing and monitoring remedial works through to completion.
- Overseeing contractor performance and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
- Carrying out post-inspections of completed works.
- Supporting the management of resident complaints and ensuring issues are resolved effectively.
- Maintaining clear communication with residents throughout the repair and remedial works process.
- Reviewing contractor invoices and supporting effective budget management.
- Working collaboratively with contractors, consultants, internal teams and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring works comply with relevant health & safety requirements, CDM regulations and applicable legislation.
- Previous experience working as a Building Surveyor, Housing Surveyor or Property Surveyor.
- A strong background in social housing, repairs and maintenance or asset management.
- Good knowledge of HHSRS, building pathology, damp and mould diagnosis and relevant housing legislation.
- Experience managing reactive repairs, disrepair cases, planned works or major repairs.
- Experience overseeing contractors and managing remedial works.
- Strong technical surveying, inspection and report-writing skills.
- An understanding of housing disrepair processes, including Scott Schedules and technical reports.
- Good knowledge of construction, building standards, health & safety and CDM requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- The ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
- A construction-related qualification or equivalent demonstrable surveying experience.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
