Deputyship Finance Officer
Location: Enfield Civic Centre
Contract: Initially 3 months - potential to be extended
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £25 UMB per hour (£20.50 PAYE)
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Deputyship Finance Officer to join a busy local authority team supporting vulnerable adults who lack capacity to manage their financial affairs.
You will manage a caseload of Court of Protection and appointeeship clients, ensuring their finances are administered lawfully, accurately and in their best interests.

We are seeking an experienced Deputyship Finance Officer to join a busy local authority team supporting vulnerable adults who lack capacity to manage their financial affairs.
You will manage a caseload of Court of Protection and appointeeship clients, ensuring their finances are administered lawfully, accurately and in their best interests.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of deputyship and/or appointeeship cases
- Administer and monitor client finances, including income, expenditure and savings
- Liaise with the Court of Protection, Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), DWP, banks and external stakeholders
- Prepare financial reports, annual returns and records in line with statutory requirements
- Ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and safeguarding legislation
- Support clients with welfare benefits, direct payments and financial reviews
- Maintain accurate records and case notes on internal systems
- Experience working in Deputyship, Appointeeship or Court of Protection services
- Strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and best interest decision-making
- Confident managing finances for vulnerable adults
- Experience within a local authority, public sector or regulated environment (desirable)
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet statutory deadlines
- Meaningful work supporting vulnerable adults
