A client within the Public Sector based in North Lincolnshire is currently recruiting for a Development Management Officer – Major Applications to join their Development Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Development Management / Planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to act as the lead officer for major and complex planning applications, providing expert professional advice and managing applications through the decision-making process in line with national legislation and the Council’s Local Plan. The post holder will support service delivery objectives, provide leadership within the team, and represent the Authority on significant development proposals.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Leading on major, complex and potentially controversial planning applications through to determination
• Preparing detailed committee reports and presenting applications at Planning Committee
• Negotiating Section 106 agreements and advising on viability, infrastructure, and policy compliance
• Providing expert planning advice to members, senior officers, developers and the public
• Supporting the Team Manager in workload allocation, performance monitoring and mentoring junior officers
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A Degree or Diploma (or equivalent) in Town Planning or a related subject
• Membership of (or eligibility for) the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
• Significant experience within a Local Authority Development Management team
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience presenting evidence at public inquiries and hearings
• Strong negotiation skills, including Section 106 agreements
• Experience managing or mentoring planning officers and overseeing workload
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £28 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £22 per hour PAYE).
