The Role As part of the Direct Payments Team, you’ll help individuals who choose to manage their own care provision. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, providing advice, guidance, and practical support to help service users make informed choices and maintain financial control over their care packages.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring financial records, auditing spend, and maintaining accurate data using Microsoft Excel and internal systems.
  • Conducting home visits and liaising with families, social workers, and partner organisations.
  • Promoting awareness of the Direct Payments service and contributing to its ongoing development.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, employment law, and local procedures.
About You We’re looking for someone who is motivated, empathetic, and confident in handling both people and numbers. You’ll need to be well-organised, with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently.

Essential criteria:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience of financial administration, auditing, or monitoring processes.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Confident communicating with service users, families, and professionals at all levels.
  • Experience of working with confidential information.
  • A commitment to personal development and keeping up to date with relevant legislation.
Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of Direct Payments and social care legislation (e.g. Care Act 2014).
  • Understanding of employment law and payroll processes.
  • ECDL or CLAIT qualification.
Additional Information
  • You’ll manage your own caseload and schedule visits, ensuring safe lone working practices.
