A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Disrepair Case Manager to join their Housing Services – Disrepair Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing or property services environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To manage and progress housing disrepair and personal injury claims in line with the pre-action protocol for disrepair, ensuring statutory compliance, minimising financial risk to the Council, and safeguarding the health, safety and wellbeing of tenants.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing all aspects of disrepair casework from initial claim through to resolution or court proceedings
• Gathering and analysing technical information to provide clear instructions to surveyors and legal representatives
• Liaising with internal departments including Repairs & Maintenance, Design and Delivery, Rents, Neighbourhoods and Rehousing
• Working collaboratively with solicitors to review liability and quantum, negotiating settlements within delegated authority
• Preparing legal documentation, supporting court proceedings, attending hearings and giving evidence where required
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A relevant housing, construction, legal or property-related qualification (e.g. HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4 , or equivalent experience)
• Knowledge and understanding of the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Disrepair
• Experience of managing housing disrepair cases within a local authority or social housing environment
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and propose practical solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder negotiation
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a pressurised environment and meet strict deadlines
• Experience preparing evidence for legal proceedings and working with solicitors and courts
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £24 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £19 per hour PAYE).
