Disrepair Surveyor – Kent / Local Authority Client

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Disrepair Surveyor to join a busy Housing Repairs team for a Local Authority in the Kent area. This role will be responsible for progressing disrepair cases from claim to completion, ensuring works are specified, managed, and delivered to a high standard across the housing stock.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Disrepair Surveyor to join a busy Housing Repairs team for a Local Authority in the Kent area. This role will be responsible for progressing disrepair cases from claim to completion, ensuring works are specified, managed, and delivered to a high standard across the housing stock.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake inspections of occupied and void properties to identify and diagnose disrepair and complex repair issues.
- Prepare detailed specifications using SOR codes and raise works orders for operatives and contractors.
- Liaise with the Legal team on Section 11 and Environmental Protection Act claims, acting as expert witness when required.
- Oversee contractors, carrying out pre- and post-inspections to ensure works meet required standards.
- Identify structural defects and report findings to the Asset Team.
- Provide technical support to Repairs, Voids, and Compliance teams.
- Ensure all work complies with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate records and uphold excellent standards of customer service.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a building-related discipline.
- Extensive experience managing disrepair claims within a housing or local authority environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, HHSRS, and landlord statutory obligations.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Professional membership (RICS/CIOB) is desirable.
