Domestic Abuse Help Line & Intake Practitioner
Location: Havertop Police Station, Havertop Lane, Wakefield, WF6 1FD
Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Duration: Until 31/01/2026 with possible extension
Pay: £19.91 LTD per hour (depending on experience)
We are seeking a Specialist Domestic Abuse Help Line & Intake Practitioner to join the Wakefield District Domestic Abuse Service (WDDAS). You will be the first point of contact for victims of domestic abuse, operating the helpline, processing referrals, and providing immediate advice, safety planning, and support. Working within a multi-agency team, you will prioritise the needs of those at highest risk, ensuring effective safeguarding and timely interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage enquiries and referrals via helpline and intake service.
- Assess risk and needs using recognised tools (e.g. DASH 2009).
- Deliver crisis support, safety planning, and onward referrals.
- Liaise with partner agencies to coordinate responses.
- Maintain accurate case management records and contribute to service development.
- IDVA qualification, relevant degree, or equivalent experience.
- Substantial experience working in domestic abuse and safeguarding.
- Strong crisis management, risk assessment, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation, housing needs, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Ability to work flexibly, independently, and collaboratively across agencies.
