Early Help Practitioner
Location: Wandsworth, London Borough of Richmond and Wandsworth
Contract: Initial 3-month assignment
Hours: 36 hours per week
Rate: £28 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Early Help Practitioner to join the Children’s Services team within the London Borough of Richmond and Wandsworth. This role is based in Wandsworth and plays a vital part in providing early intervention and support to children, young people, and families with complex needs.
Working as part of the Early Help Support Team, you’ll support Lead Professionals across universal and targeted services, helping to strengthen Team Around the Child (TAC) processes, manage risk, and improve outcomes for families.

Key Responsibilities
- Support Lead Professionals to develop child-focused family plans that improve outcomes and manage risk.
- Undertake direct work with families in their homes, promoting positive change and resilience.
- Identify risk and assess the needs of children and families showing early signs of vulnerability.
- Work collaboratively with partners across education, health, and social care to strengthen early intervention.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns in a timely manner, ensuring robust child protection.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records using appropriate IT systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and performance framework of Early Help services.
- Experience of working directly with families in their homes, particularly those with complex or multiple needs.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and confident risk management skills.
- Experience of leading or supporting Team Around the Child (TAC) meetings.
- Excellent communication, recording, and partnership-working skills.
- A proactive, flexible, and compassionate approach to supporting families.
