About the Role

The London Borough of London Borough of Bexley is seeking a qualified and HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist to join its Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service.
This role supports the Local Authority in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities relating to the identification, assessment and provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing psychological advice, consultation and support to schools, families and professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Main Purpose
  • Contribute to statutory SEN assessment processes
  • Provide psychological advice and written reports to inform EHCPs
  • Support schools at SEN Support stage through consultation and early intervention
  • Deliver professional, high-quality psychological services in line with legislation and service standards
  • Promote inclusive practice and positive outcomes for children and young people
Key Responsibilities Service Delivery
  • Provide psychological assessments, consultation and advice
  • Contribute to statutory assessments and written reports
  • Advise on developmental, learning and SEMH needs
  • Monitor and report on service delivery and workload allocation
  • Contribute to service development projects where required

Person Specification Essential Qualifications
  • Eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Good honours degree in Psychology
  • Postgraduate qualification (Masters or Doctorate) recognised by the British Psychological Society as appropriate training for Educational Psychologists
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Experience working with children and young people, including those with SEN and SEMH
  • Experience working collaboratively with professionals within education or public sector services
  • Knowledge of current SEN legislation and Educational Psychology practice
  • Strong assessment, consultation and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage a large and varied workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare
