Employer Engagement Officer
Location: Durham
Contract: 3-month initial contract (with the possibility of extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (standard office hours)
About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Employer Engagement Officer to help create real opportunities for unemployed young people aged 16–24.
In this role, you’ll be the key link between young people and local employers — building strong relationships, securing job and placement opportunities, and helping young people take their first steps into work. It’s a rewarding, hands-on role where you’ll make a genuine difference every day.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with both employers and young people, particularly in sourcing and securing opportunities for unemployed young people aged 16–24.
- A strong track record of employer engagement, ideally with existing employer links and networks you can bring with you from day one.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills — you’ll be confident talking to employers at all levels.
- A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work flexibly across the county.
- A Level 2 qualification in a relevant area such as Employment Related Services, Information, Advice and Guidance, Youth Work or similar.
- Access to a car or other means of mobility support. (If driving, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and appropriate insurance.)
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local employers.
- Sourcing and securing job, apprenticeship, and work experience opportunities.
- Working directly with young people to understand their goals and help prepare them for employment.
- Promoting the benefits of youth employment and encouraging businesses to get involved.
- Keeping accurate records of employer contacts, vacancies, and placements.
- A chance to make a real impact on young people’s futures.

- Potential for contract extension based on performance and funding.
