Employment Lawyer

Service Care Solutions is working with Stockport Council to recruit an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its award-winning Legal Services team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced employment law professional to join a supportive and collaborative local authority legal team, providing high-quality legal and strategic advice across a broad range of employment matters.

• Job Title: Employment Lawyer
• Salary: MB3 £51,356 – £58,165 per annum, plus additional benefits and pay award pending
• Contract: Permanent
• Location: Manchester/Hybrid

You will work as part of a friendly and collaborative team of ten colleagues, within a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged and valued.

The successful Employment Lawyer will be confident managing their own caseload and will act as a key point of contact for employment-related legal advice across the Council.

The role will involve working closely with senior leaders and colleagues at all levels, providing expert legal and strategic advice across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

Key Responsibilities as an Employment Lawyer:

• Provide specialist legal advice on a wide range of employment law matters.
• Manage your own caseload with minimal supervision.
• Advise senior leaders, managers and colleagues on employment-related issues.
• Handle both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
• Undertake advocacy where required.
• Act as a trusted source of employment law expertise within the organisation.

About you as an Employment Lawyer:

• At least 5 years' PQE in employment law.
• A current practising certificate qualifying you to practise in England as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with litigation rights.
• Strong technical knowledge of employment law.
• Experience handling both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
• Strong advocacy and communication skills.
