A client within the Public Sector based in London Borough of Southwark is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer – Food Safety to join their Food Safety Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority Environmental Health environment.

To contribute to the Council’s vision by delivering a comprehensive Food Safety service in accordance with performance targets, legislation, and Council standards, supporting the team in achieving inspection targets and maintaining high public health standards.

The Role Key purpose of the role:
To contribute to the Council’s vision by delivering a comprehensive Food Safety service in accordance with performance targets, legislation, and Council standards, supporting the team in achieving inspection targets and maintaining high public health standards.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Carrying out food safety inspections, investigations, audits, and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with legislation.
- Liaising and negotiating with business proprietors, managers, and the public to achieve practical food safety solutions.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with statutory requirements.
- Using education and advisory approaches to encourage compliance and raise food safety standards.
- Supporting the Food Safety Team Leader in achieving performance targets and contributing to service improvement.
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
- EHRB Registration or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Substantial recent experience working as an Environmental Health Officer or Food Safety Enforcement Officer within a local authority.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage a busy and varied workload effectively.
- Competency in using MS Office and Civica APP (Flare) software.
