A client within the Public Sector based in Cheshire West and Chester is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health & Trading Standards Practitioner to join their Regulatory Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in an Environmental Health or Trading Standards environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to deliver and promote excellent Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, and Trading Standards services to businesses and residents across Cheshire West and Chester. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to ensure effective service delivery and compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Carrying out inspections, monitoring, and enforcement duties across Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, and Trading Standards functions.
• Providing technical advice and support to businesses, individuals, Members, and partner agencies.
• Taking the lead on specific projects or initiatives within Regulatory Services and with external partners.
• Preparing reports and presenting evidence for complex cases at Court, Public and Planning Inquiries, and Licensing Hearings.
• Maintaining professional competence and up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practice in relevant areas.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
• A degree-level qualification in Environmental Health, Scientific discipline, or Trading Standards (or equivalent).
• Evidence of relevant professional competence.
• A full UK driving licence and the ability to work flexibly across various locations.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or Trading Standards Institute (or equivalent).
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Computer literacy and the ability to analyse and solve problems effectively.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £19 per hour PAYE).
