A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer to join their Environmental Health Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority Environmental Health environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To carry out the Council’s statutory and discretionary Environmental Health and Housing duties across residential, commercial and industrial premises, ensuring healthy living, working and recreational conditions for the local community. The role also involves providing expert technical advice and resolving complex and sensitive enforcement matters.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Investigating and resolving service requests relating to Environmental Health and Housing
• Undertaking inspections, risk-based interventions and enforcement activities
• Preparing, drafting and serving statutory notices and initiating legal proceedings where required
• Providing professional advice to members of the public, businesses, and other stakeholders
• Preparing detailed reports and attending court, tribunals, and hearings as an expert witness
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health recognised by the CIEH
• Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board or Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (CIEH) status
• At least 12 months’ post-qualification experience (including placements) within a local authority
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Housing legislation
• Experience with enforcement action, inspections, and risk-based programmes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £55 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £40 per hour PAYE).
