A client within the Public Sector, based in Somerset, is currently recruiting for a Estates Surveyor to join their Strategic Asset Management / Estates Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority estates environment.

The Role
The key purpose of the role is to manage, deliver, and supervise a range of complex estates casework to support the Council’s strategic objectives. This includes acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, valuations, and asset development, while providing professional estates advice to senior managers, client departments, and elected members.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing complex acquisitions and disposals, including leasehold and freehold transactions, compulsory purchase work, and community asset transfers
• Delivering landlord and tenant functions such as lease renewals, rent reviews, and new lettings across a varied property portfolio
• Undertaking and overseeing statutory, accounting, and commercial valuations in line with RICS “Red Book” standards
• Acting as estates lead and subject matter expert on asset development and capital schemes, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders
• Providing professional estates advice to senior officers, service areas, and elected members, supporting wider asset management strategy

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require the following essential qualifications and registrations:
• Membership or Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification
• Registered Valuer status (desirable but advantageous)
The below skills and experience would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong experience managing complex estates caseloads within a local authority or public sector environment
• Proven negotiation skills across acquisitions, disposals, and landlord & tenant matters
• Experience supervising junior surveyors or estates staff and coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and, as such, is offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approximately £40 per hour PAYE, depending on experience).
