Staffordshire County Council is recruiting multiple Family Practitioners to join our Children’s Services teams. About the Role As a Family Practitioner, you will work intensively with families to provide high support and high challenge, helping children to remain safely within their families, return home where appropriate, or stabilise placements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working directly with children, young people and families using a restorative practice model

  • Acting as a key worker and leading Early Help assessments and plans

  • Working collaboratively with Social Workers to support children in need, on child protection plans and in care

  • Contributing to parenting assessments, mediation, crisis prevention, conflict resolution and Life Story Work

  • Delivering targeted interventions around issues such as attachment, behaviour management, loss and grief, staying safe and criminal exploitation

  • Facilitating family and professional meetings, groups and events

  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation

  • Working flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required

This role is considered a Politically Restricted Post under relevant legislation.

What We’re Looking For We are seeking experienced practitioners who can demonstrate:

  • A minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in working with children and families

  • Experience of direct work with vulnerable children and families in statutory or voluntary settings

  • A strong understanding of child development, trauma and family vulnerabilities

  • Knowledge of children’s social care legislation, policy and guidance

  • Experience delivering or facilitating evidence-based parenting programmes

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Confidence working in challenging and conflict situations

  • A commitment to restorative and anti-discriminatory practice

  • Ability to maintain high-quality written records and use IT systems effectively
