This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting families to stay together, reducing risks, and helping children achieve the best possible outcomes.

The Role As a Family Practitioner, you will work directly with children, young people, parents, carers and partner agencies to provide intensive support and intervention. You'll play a key role in preventing family breakdown, supporting children in need, and working alongside Social Workers to deliver effective plans that improve outcomes for vulnerable children.

Using a restorative practice approach, you'll build positive relationships with families while providing both support and appropriate challenge to encourage sustainable change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Early Help Assessments and contribute to Child in Need, Child Protection and Children in Care plans.
  • Deliver targeted interventions focusing on parenting, behaviour management, attachment, conflict resolution, safeguarding, exploitation, loss and grief.
  • Undertake parenting assessments and contribute to wider family assessments.
  • Organise and facilitate family meetings, professional meetings and group sessions.
  • Provide practical support, crisis intervention and mediation to families.
  • Build strong multi-agency relationships to ensure coordinated support.
  • Maintain accurate case recordings, reports and documentation.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of children and families.
About You We're looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce, Health & Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working directly with vulnerable children, young people and families within statutory or voluntary services.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child development and trauma-informed practice.
  • Understanding of issues including domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health, poverty and exploitation.
  • Experience completing assessments and delivering targeted interventions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written recording and IT skills.
  • The ability to work confidently in challenging and emotionally demanding situations.
  • A commitment to restorative practice and achieving positive outcomes for children.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
Why Apply?
  • Make a lasting difference to children's lives.
  • Join a supportive and experienced Children's Services team.
  • Opportunity to develop your skills within a restorative practice model.
  • Full-time, rewarding frontline role.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Service Care Solutions consultant.
