We’re working in partnership with Cheshire East Council to recruit a committed and compassionate Family Service Worker to support children, young people and families through high-quality early intervention and preventative services.
This is a rewarding frontline role for someone who thrives on partnership working, evidence-based practice and making a genuine difference to family outcomes.
The Role As a Family Service Worker, you will work collaboratively across Children’s Services and partner agencies to deliver targeted, coordinated interventions for families with children aged 0–19.
You’ll play a key role in identifying need early, undertaking holistic assessments, and delivering tailored programmes of support that empower families and safeguard vulnerable children.

You’ll play a key role in identifying need early, undertaking holistic assessments, and delivering tailored programmes of support that empower families and safeguard vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a range of evidence-based family support programmes in line with service priorities
- Work in partnership with internal teams and external agencies to ensure joined-up support
- Undertake holistic family assessments and develop, deliver and review individual support plans
- Prioritise support for vulnerable and harder-to-reach families
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case records and reports
- Collect and use data to support performance management and service improvement
- Actively seek and respond to the views of children, young people and families
- Escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately and in line with statutory guidance
- Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends where required, to meet service needs
Essential requirements include:
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent)
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
- Experience delivering outcome-focused interventions with children and families
- Experience of multi-agency working and CAF assessments
- Strong recording, reporting and ICT skills
- Excellent communication, engagement and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage emotionally demanding and complex casework professionally
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work use
- Extended experience working with children, young people and parents/carers
- Group-work delivery with parents/carers
- Experience of working with harmful sexual behaviour (HSB) cases
- Relevant youth, community, social care or equivalent qualification
