Family Support Worker – Letterbox
Service Area: Adoption Counts
Location: Stockport
We are currently recruiting for a Family Support Worker – Letterbox to join Adoption Counts, supporting children, birth families and adoptive families across the region.
This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping children maintain their identity and sense of belonging through secure and sensitive communication between adoptive families and birth relatives.

We are currently recruiting for a Family Support Worker – Letterbox to join Adoption Counts, supporting children, birth families and adoptive families across the region.
This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping children maintain their identity and sense of belonging through secure and sensitive communication between adoptive families and birth relatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Letterbox contact between adoptive families and birth families, ensuring exchanges are secure, appropriate, and child-focused.
- Provide adoption support by delivering tailored packages of care, supporting children with identity, belonging, and security needs.
- Work directly with adoptive families and birth families, offering guidance and support around adoption and its impact.
- Collaborate with other agencies to ensure children and families receive the right support.
- Contribute to service development, attend team meetings, and take part in training and regional adoption events.
- Maintain clear, timely, and accurate records in line with policy requirements.
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in childcare.
- Have experience of working with children who have experienced trauma or neglect and their families/carers.
- Be confident working with children and young people with challenging behaviours.
- Have knowledge of adoption, attachment, safeguarding, and child development.
- Be able to work effectively with colleagues, partner agencies, and families.
- Have strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- Be a car driver (alternative arrangements will be considered for disabled applicants).
