Family Support Worker – Time Together Service
Contract: Initial 3 months
Hours: 37 hours per week (includes some evenings and Saturdays)
Pay Rate: £22.82 per hour (Umbrella) / £17.47 per hour (PAYE)
About the Role
Plymouth City Council is seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join their Time Together service within the OAK Tree House team.
This role focuses on facilitating supervised contact sessions between children and their birth families where care proceedings are in place. You will play a vital part in supporting vulnerable children to maintain safe and meaningful relationships with their families.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support Time Together (family contact) sessions
- Ensure all interactions are safe, child-focused, and trauma-informed
- Provide parenting support both during and outside of sessions
- Deliver therapeutic life story work and targeted interventions
- Work closely with social workers, foster carers, and family members
- Accurately record observations and contribute to assessments
- Has experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families
- Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Is confident delivering direct work and family support interventions
- Can work flexibly, including evenings and Saturdays
- Communicates effectively and works well within a multi-agency environment
