About the Role
Achieving for Children is looking for an experienced Family Support Worker to join the Child and Family Help Team within the Social Care and Early Help Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with children, young people, and families who require targeted early help and more specialist interventions, including children in need.
You will play a key role in supporting families to improve outcomes, reduce risks, and prevent escalation into Child Protection services. Working under the guidance of a qualified social worker, you’ll be delivering support within both early help and statutory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to children, young people, and families with a focus on improving attendance, wellbeing, safety, and family functioning.
  • Work in partnership with schools, health, youth services, and voluntary agencies to ensure joined-up support.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions that reduce risks and build family resilience.
  • Support families in accessing local services, benefits, and resources.
  • Keep accurate case notes and contribute to assessments, reviews, and plans.
  • Carry out home visits and work flexibly across family hubs, youth centres, and main offices in Richmond or Kingston.
About You:
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in an early help, social care, or family support role.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and the statutory framework around children in need.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Skilled in partnership working with schools, health professionals, and other agencies.
  • Organised, resilient, and confident in managing a varied caseload.
