We’re currently recruiting for a Family Support Worker to join the Short Breaks Team within Oldham Council. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with disabilities and their families by assessing and coordinating access to short breaks and related services.

We’re currently recruiting for a Family Support Worker to join the Short Breaks Team within Oldham Council. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with disabilities and their families by assessing and coordinating access to short breaks and related services.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Short Breaks Assessments and reviews to evaluate children’s needs and identify appropriate support.
- Undertake Carers Assessments to assess caring pressures and identify areas where support is required.
- Conduct home and school visits, building strong relationships with children, parents, and professionals.
- Participate in the team duty rota, screening and responding to new contacts into the service.
- Assess and record a child’s mental capacity (MCAs) where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings and reports.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Children’s Services and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes.
- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or a related field.
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in need of support.
- Strong assessment, communication, and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload.
- Enhanced DBS and ability to travel across the borough.
