A client within the Public Sector based in outh East of England is currently recruiting for an Fire Safety Contracts Manager to join their Commercial Services team as soon as possible.
The client is offering a full-time, permanent position, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or housing provider within a fire safety and building safety major works environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead and manage fire safety and building safety major works across high-rise, mid-rise, and low-rise properties, ensuring full compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Building Safety Act 2022. The postholder will act as the client-side competent person, overseeing contracts, consultants, financial forecasting, procurement, and overall project delivery.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing fire safety and building safety major works projects from inception to completion
• Conducting project risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies
• Overseeing contractor and consultant performance to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
• Preparing and maintaining financial forecasts and project expenditure reports
• Ensuring projects meet agreed KPIs, timescales, and quality standards
• Carrying out site inspections to verify quality, safety, and contractual compliance
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• HNC (or higher) in a construction or building-related discipline OR proven experience in a similar major works role
• Strong knowledge of fire safety and building safety legislation, including FSO 2005 and BSA 2022
• Experience managing contractors and major works projects within construction or social housing
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Project management qualifications (PRINCE2, PMP, etc.)
• Fire safety training or qualifications (NEBOSH, Fire Risk Assessment, etc.)
• Experience working within social housing or public sector major works
• Working towards chartership (e.g., MCIOB)
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering up to £43,200 per annum various other benefits.
