A client within the Public Sector based in Tyne and Wear is currently recruiting for a Fire Safety Officer to join their Health and Safety Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a fire safety or health & safety environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to provide expert advice on fire safety standards across council premises and work operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.

The Role
The key purpose of the role is to provide expert advice on fire safety standards across council premises and work operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Carrying out fire risk assessments, fire safety inspections and assessments of premises and work activities.
- Providing advice and guidance to internal teams on fire safety and risk mitigation.
- Investigating fire safety-related incidents.
- Preparing reports, safety plans and assessments where required.
- Supporting the development and monitoring of internal fire safety policies and strategies.
To be considered for this role, you will require:
- Formal qualifications in fire safety (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Safety, Fire Risk Assessment qualification).
- Proven experience working within a local authority or similar public sector setting.
- Strong understanding of current fire safety legislation and standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Experience supporting and/or delivering fire safety training.
- Ability to work collaboratively and represent the organisation in external meetings or forums.
