Fire Safety Surveyor – London Council (Housing Stock)
£350 Umbrella per day / Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)

A London Local Authority are looking for a knowledgeable Fire Safety Surveyor to join their Property & Compliance team. You will play a key role in ensuring housing stock remains safe, compliant and aligned with current fire safety legislation and best practice.

A London Local Authority are looking for a knowledgeable Fire Safety Surveyor to join their Property & Compliance team. You will play a key role in ensuring housing stock remains safe, compliant and aligned with current fire safety legislation and best practice.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across housing stock and community spaces, raising orders for remedial works and tracking completion
 - Provide specialist fire safety advice to internal stakeholders, contractors, and residents
 - Prepare FRA programmes aligned to risk and regulatory requirements
 - Undertake desktop reviews and quality assurance checks on 3rd-party FRA contractors
 - Monitor repairs and compliance works, post-inspect and hold contractors to account for quality and performance
 - Support development of planned fire safety works and associated specifications
 - Work closely with Planned & Capital teams, ensuring fire safety upgrades are completed to standard
 - Engage with the Fire Brigade on audits, inspections, enforcement notices and follow-up actions
 - Deliver fire safety training and presentations to staff, contractors, tenants and leaseholders
 - Assist in policy and strategy development, maintaining accurate fire safety records and databases
 - Carry out inspections of communal areas, signage, information boxes and general fire safety housekeeping
 
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience delivering Fire Risk Assessments within social housing or similar built-environment settings
 - Strong knowledge of the Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Safety Act 2022 and RR(FS)O 2005
 - NEBOSH General Certificate & NEBOSH Fire Certificate (or equivalent)
 - HND/C in Fire Safety/Fire Engineering or related discipline
 - Professional membership or working towards (IFE / CABE / CIOB / RICS)
 - Strong stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills
 - Able to work flexibly and attend site when needed, including occasional out-of-hours requirements
