Forensic Submissions and Intelligence Officer

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Forensic Submissions & Intelligence Officer to work on a full-time contract in Blackburn, Lancashire (on-site).
The role is paying £13.84p per hour (PAYE).

Applicants must have either Scientific or Forensic experience in relation to crime investigation, alongside being able to obtain police security vetting.

Duties:

• Evaluate forensic work requests and provide advice to officers on appropriate forensic services and evidential opportunities.
• Liaise with internal teams and external forensic providers to ensure an efficient forensic submissions and intelligence service.
• Monitor and assess forensic submissions to internal/external laboratories, considering incident circumstances, best value and likely outcomes.
• Support monitoring of submissions to the National DNA Database (including processing results when required).
• Evaluate forensic statements and reports received from forensic providers.
• Analyse, input and quality check DNA match reports/speculative searches and produce Streamlined Forensic Reports (SFR) where appropriate.
• Research forensic evidence, results and intelligence to support investigations, including identifying similar/linked crimes.
• Maintain accurate case records and financial commitments, updating and interrogating relevant systems/databases.
• Use force systems (including Connect) to manage forensic casework in a compliant and lawful manner.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of forensic science techniques/services and apply this to advice given.

Essential experience:

• GCSE (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Maths).
• Scientific or forensic experience relating to crime investigation.
• Experience monitoring/maintaining/interrogating computerised systems and managing accurate case records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to advise operational officers and stakeholders.
• Ability to assess information, make effective decisions, and work with minimum supervision as part of a team.
• Ability to handle/view sensitive or graphic material.
• Flexible approach to work hours/practices and ability to travel as required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
