Hours: 35 per week, Monday to Friday, Hybrid
About the Role:
We are working on behalf of the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham and are looking for a committed and customer-focused Frontline Officer to join their Adult Care and Support Intake Team. This is a vital role, acting as the first point of contact for residents seeking support from adult social care.
You will undertake holistic initial assessments, provide information and advice, and ensure residents are supported early, appropriately, and in a person-centred way. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help identify the right solutions for individuals and families, promoting independence, prevention, and first-contact resolution wherever possible.
The role requires a good working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, adult safeguarding, and an understanding of the wider range of council and community services available to residents.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake initial assessments, pre-screening, signposting, and referrals, ensuring person-centred outcomes for residents
- Act as a first point of contact, providing high-quality information, advice, and support
- Promote early intervention, prevention, and first-contact resolution
- Accurately record contacts and decisions on relevant IT systems, escalating cases appropriately
- Build trusted relationships with residents, colleagues, and partner organisations
- Identify and promote local community and preventative services
- Take ownership of customer outcomes, following up and challenging where necessary to achieve timely resolutions
- Work collaboratively across Adult Social Care and the wider council to ensure a joined-up service
- Support colleagues by sharing knowledge and leading by example
- Comply with all council policies including equalities, health and safety, and data protection
- Experienced in a customer-focused or frontline service environment
- Confident in assessing needs and managing a range of enquiries, including safeguarding concerns
- An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Organised, resilient, and able to work effectively in a pressurised environment
- Comfortable using a range of IT systems and recording information accurately
