Pay Rate: £407.44 Per Day PAYE | £550 Per Day Ltd

Overview:
Service Care Solutions are working with a Local Authority who are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Environmental Services to lead their frontline environmental programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Environment & Highways, this senior position is pivotal in shaping and delivering sustainable environmental initiatives across the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the strategic planning, development, and execution of environmental services, ensuring alignment with council priorities and sustainability goals.
• Manage budgets effectively to optimize resource allocation and service delivery.
• Lead and improve operational areas including waste management, waste collection, street cleansing, transfer stations, Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC), grounds maintenance, minor highway repairs, fleet and plant management, parks and open spaces, allotment services, cemeteries and crematoria, and recycling initiatives.
• Drive environmental sustainability efforts by promoting eco-friendly practices and protecting natural resources.
• Supervise staff, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile:

• Proven leadership experience in environmental services or a related sector.
• Strong strategic thinking with excellent budget management skills.
• Knowledge of waste management, environmental legislation, and sustainability practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple service areas efficiently.
