Are you an experienced Head of Housing or senior housing leader looking for your next long-term contract opportunity?
We are working in partnership with a forward-thinking Local Authority to recruit an experienced Head of Housing to provide strategic leadership across a key housing service area. This is an exciting opportunity to shape housing services, lead high-performing teams and influence the future direction of the organisation.
The Role
You will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Housing Service, ensuring services are customer-focused, financially sound and compliant with all relevant legislation. Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive service improvements, deliver strategic priorities and work closely with elected members and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Housing Service, ensuring high quality, efficient service delivery.
  • Develop and implement housing strategies, policies and transformation programmes.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership, Members and external partners.
  • Manage significant budgets and ensure value for money across the service.
  • Lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build effective partnerships with housing providers, public sector organisations and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with housing legislation, regulatory standards and statutory responsibilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and organisational change.

About You
We're looking for someone with:
• Significant senior leadership experience within Housing in a Local Authority or similar public sector organisation.
• Experience developing housing strategy and delivering large-scale service improvements.
• Strong knowledge of housing legislation, consumer standards and regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience managing substantial budgets and delivering value for money.
• CIH membership or equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
