Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Head of Repairs and Maintenance on behalf of a Greater Manchester based Council.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the Council’s repairs and maintenance service across a £1bn housing portfolio.
The successful candidate will lead the strategic development and delivery of the repairs and maintenance function, including responsive repairs, major works repairs, voids, disrepair, damp and mould, complaints and resident engagement.
You will manage a £22m annual repairs budget, lead a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with contractors, elected members, senior stakeholders and residents to deliver a high quality, resident-focused service.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Council’s repairs and maintenance strategy
- Manage the responsive repairs, major works, voids and allocations services
- Lead the Council’s disrepair, damp, mould and condensation services
- Oversee complaints handling and resident feedback relating to repairs and maintenance
- Manage a £22m annual repairs and maintenance budget
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team of repairs and maintenance professionals
- Work with contractors to improve performance and deliver a Right First Time approach
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with elected members, senior leaders, residents and external partners
- Ensure that all services are delivered in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Monitor service performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Produce reports, presentations and briefings for senior management, committees and elected members
- Work collaboratively with wider housing, neighbourhood and partner organisations
- Ensure effective management of contracts, budgets, performance and risk
- Significant experience within a senior housing repairs and maintenance leadership role
- Strong knowledge of responsive repairs, voids, disrepair and damp and mould services
- Experience managing large housing budgets and contractor-led services
- Proven ability to lead strategic service improvement across housing repairs and maintenance
- Strong understanding of housing compliance, regulatory requirements and best practice
- Experience leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to build strong relationships with residents, contractors, elected members and senior stakeholders
- Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within local authority or social housing environments
- Construction-related qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Knowledge of in-house DLOs and contractor management would be beneficial
