A client within the Public Sector based in Norfolk is currently recruiting for a Head of Health & Safety to join their People & Change team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, 12-month fixed term position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a housing environment or a highly regulated environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide professional leadership, strategic direction and corporate assurance for health, safety and fire safety across the organisation. The postholder will act as the organisation’s competent person and ensure robust governance, compliance and continuous improvement frameworks are in place.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Designing, owning and delivering the organisation’s Health & Safety Strategy
• Providing leadership to the Health & Safety team, including direct reports
• Establishing governance, assurance and performance reporting frameworks for SLT and Board
• Acting as subject-matter expert for health, safety, fire safety and building safety
• Developing and maintaining policies, procedures and guidance in line with legislation
• Leading risk management frameworks, risk identification, assessment and control
• Overseeing audits, inspections, fire risk assessments and remedial actions
• Leading serious incident investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Ensuring compliance with legislation including fire safety and building safety requirements
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
• Professional membership with IOSH (Chartered or working towards Chartered)
• Extensive leadership experience in health & safety within a regulated environment
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Knowledge of fire safety, residential building safety or Building Safety Act requirements
• Experience delivering assurance, audit and compliance frameworks
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leadership
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £66,000 per annum on a 12-month fixed-term contract with the opportunity to become a permanent role.
