A client within the Public Sector based in North Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join their Human Resources Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or multi-disciplined public sector environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To provide a professional and effective Health and Safety support service, acting as the Council’s competent person for Health and Safety and ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Developing, implementing and monitoring corporate health and safety policies and procedures
• Providing professional health and safety advice to managers, staff and senior leadership
• Undertaking and managing risk assessments, including complex and specialist assessments
• Investigating accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences, including RIDDOR reporting
• Carrying out inspections, audits and monitoring compliance across council services
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
• Technical Member (Tech IOSH) of IOSH (or equivalent)
• Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, particularly within construction or housing environments
• Experience of providing health and safety advice within a local authority or public sector setting
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £25 per hour PAYE).
