Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Job Purpose As a Supply HLTA, you will support teaching and learning across primary schools, delivering lessons when required and assisting teachers in ensuring pupils achieve their full potential. This flexible role allows you to work across different schools on a schedule that suits you.

Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Support

• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of a teacher
• Support pupils’ learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
• Adapt activities to meet the needs of all learners

Classroom Support

• Assist with classroom management and behaviour
• Prepare and organise learning resources
• Support the teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities

Assessment and Feedback

• Monitor and record pupil progress
• Provide feedback to teachers on pupil achievement and engagement
• Assist with marking where required

Pastoral Care and Safeguarding

• Support pupils’ social and emotional development
• Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

Requirements Essential

• HLTA qualification 
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Ability to lead a class when required
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

• Experience across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
• Knowledge of phonics and intervention programmes
• Understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching practices
