Highways Inspector

A client within the Public Sector based in Lincolnshire is currently recruiting for a Highway Inspector to join their Highway Inspection Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority highway maintenance environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To support the Local Authority in discharging its statutory duty under the Highways Act 1980 by carrying out inspections, assessments, and prioritisation of highway maintenance works to ensure the safety of all highway users.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Inspecting the highway network and ordering reactive maintenance works as required
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, policies, and procedures
• Maintaining accurate inspection records to support statutory defence (Section 58)
• Assisting with third-party insurance claims, including site meetings and providing evidence
• Liaising with stakeholders such as elected members, the public, emergency services, and contractors

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A full UK driving licence
• Experience within highway inspection, highway maintenance, or a related discipline
• Ability to work independently while managing your own workload
The below skills and experience would be beneficial for the role:
• Working knowledge of the Highways Act 1980
• Experience of highway / civil engineering construction methods and materials
• Ability to maintain accurate records and carry out dynamic risk assessments
• Experience using IT systems, databases, and inspection software

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £21 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £17 per hour PAYE).
