Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Home Options Officer on behalf of a local authority housing service. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with experience in homelessness prevention and housing advice to join a busy frontline team delivering vital support to residents at risk of homelessness.
The Role
As a Home Options Officer, you will provide frontline housing advice and support to residents, working to prevent homelessness wherever possible. You will assess housing situations, provide practical options, and work with a range of partner agencies to secure suitable accommodation and sustainable outcomes for customers.
You will manage a caseload of individuals and families, ensuring cases are handled in line with housing legislation and local allocation policies. The role involves working closely with external partners including social services, health services, landlords, and support agencies.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide housing advice and homelessness prevention support to residents
• Assess homelessness applications in line with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
• Work with customers to prevent homelessness through tenancy sustainment or alternative housing solutions
• Liaise with partner agencies including social services, hospitals, prisons and support providers
• Support rough sleepers and vulnerable customers to access appropriate housing pathways
• Maintain accurate case records and communicate decisions clearly to applicants
• Assist customers accessing private rented accommodation and prevention schemes

Requirements

• Experience working in housing options, homelessness prevention or a similar housing advice role
• Knowledge of housing legislation and homelessness duties
• Experience working with external partners such as social services or support organisations
• Strong customer service and case management skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy service environment
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
